The company was established under the Decision No. 22 / QD-UB dated February 15, 1982 by the People"s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City with the name of "Import and Export Investment Joint Stock Company" Agrimexco, under the Department of Agriculture.

The main function of the company is export agricultural products. Agrimexco is a state-owned company controlled by the Ministry of Agriculture and the People"s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

On July 2, 1983, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued Decision No. 109 / QD-UB to transform "Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company" into "State-owned Agricultural Product Processing Enterprise" of the Department of Agriculture of Ho Chi Minh City.
